If you received an invitation to apply for permanent residency via the express entry program on or after October 1, 2023, you may be exempt from having an exam. Also, if you have had a previous exam in Canada, you may be exempt. Please contact IRCC to confirm. More information can be found here:

All costs for refugee claimants are covered by the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP).
Blood and urine tests are for clients 15 years and older.
Please book an appointment with LifeLabs for tests. Request a time 45 minutes after the start your medical appointment time. If there are no appointments, do not worry, they always have walk in spots.

The tests do not require fasting and the cost is $88.00 CAD (credit or debit). They can only be done after your exam.
Make sure you bring all the required documents listed in Frequently Asked Questions.
A parent or a legal guardian must accompany applicants under 15.
Before leaving we will provide a copy of your information sheet with your case number and picture on it. You can then track your examination through the IRCC website.
Our fee is $250.00 ($200.00 for 15 yrs. and younger) payable by credit, debit or cash (HST included).
After the exam, clients 11 years and older will have a chest x-ray in our building at Kingston Imaging Services ($80.00, cash only) at Unit 422, 797 Princess Street. Take the elevator to floor 4.
You do NOT need an appointment.
If the doctor finds any abnormalities in your medical results, he will contact you. Otherwise, we will submit your medical and test results to IRCC via e-Medical within 10 days after you have completed your blood work and x-ray.
